  • The group is expanding – thanks to a discussion on Reddit, a young man turned up at our group, and he’s really interested.
  • We’re launching out GBU Naples among international students, and so far, a girl doing Erasmus has joined us.
  • We found a place to meet up.
  • People are actively involved in the Bible studies on the origins of the Church in Acts.
Prayer
  • For the upcoming events we plan to do.
  • that we’d reach other young adults in the University.
  • that this group of international students would grow too.

Praise
  • At GBU Naples, we’d like to thank and praise the Lord for how He sustained us and supplied every need in the event week we held recently.
We were very enthusiastic about this, and the entire group wanted to be involved, unified in purpose and hospitable towards the young adults who had arrived from America. We’d like to give thanks both for them being there, and for their involvement with the surveys.
  • We also thank God for the students we interacted with who then took part in the events. Even though there were few of them, we thank God for reaching them.
Prayer
  • for the American students we collaborated with
  • for the students who showed an interest
  • for this semester’s Bible studies
  • that the group would grow

Rebecca was born and raised in Naples in a Christian family, but decided to follow Jesus during her teenage years.

During her studies she worked with GBU in Naples, an experience that made her realize the importance and urgency of sharing the Gospel with other students. In 2022, she graduated in Specialist Translation and began working with GBU as Staff in training. Her desire is to encourage and help students to share Jesus
in the context in which God has placed them.

Since 2017, she has been working with the youth ministry of her local church

We’d like to praise the Lord because although we’ve only just started up the Bible study again, we’re seeing as a group how interesting the book of Ecclesiates is. We’re also grateful for how welcoming the group has been to a new boy among us.

Prayer
  • that we would reach other faculties, situated in other parts of the city.
  • for the upcoming events we’re planning to run.
  • for the outreach we’re arranging, that the Lord would touch the hearts of other non-believer students.

In GBU Naples we thank God for His continued support.

When we were at the GBU training in Rome, we barely had a group anymore because a lot of students had graduated or transferred elsewhere, but now that we’ve got our activities going again, we’ve welcomed new students and the group is re-forming.

Let’s pray things continue that way and that we’d form new friendships and stay united as a group, ready to welcome new students.

Please pray that student believers would help out with the GBU and invite their friends along, and that our activities would be able to run peacefully in the universities.

Praise
  • Those of us in GBU Naples wanted to first of all thank God for not denying us His guidance and support this year as well. We managed to go ahead with our meetings and meet up before the orange/red zone arrived.
  • Let us thank God that we have seen our group strengthen and grow, and also for the emerging friendships.
  • We can also thank God that some students who had been absent for a while, are taking part in the online meetings again.
Prayer

We have one prayer request only: at the start of this academic year, we set ourselves the objective of reaching non-believing students in the second semester. This is definitely more difficult online, therefore we are asking for prayers that God would guide us and allow us to reach more students through His message of love, even with the universities closed. We are asking Him to help us be creative and resourceful in organising events that allow students to get involved who do not yet know God.

GBU Naples is thanking God for the beginning of this new year. The group was going through a difficult time due to low student involvement, but two new female students joined the group during the first Bible readings, showing interest and enthusiasm in the mission of sharing knowledge of Jesus within the university.

We’re asking for prayer for the groups located in Policlinico and Fuorigrotta who weren’t able to start meeting again, due to the low involvement of students in the area. We know that even a small witness can make a difference to a place, so we’re hoping to be able to return there.

Shortly, we will be sorting out the surveys and the one-on-one outreaches, so that we can meet students who are interested or other believers. We’re therefore asking for prayer for this and for God to guide each detail of it.

Thanks to God, we’ve started up the Bible studies from the book of Acts again in the various groups, and we’re organising various outreach events for the month of April.
We’ll be talking about a very delicate subject, even among Christians themselves, namely, the truthfulness of creation.

Prayer
  • To involve new students through presenting the GBU to local churches. In particular, a greater number of students are needed in the area of engineering in order to continue the various activities.
  • For the following upcoming outreach events (availablity of rooms, for students to be there and for preparing the debate)

This year we celebrated Christmas also on 25 January: this meant we got double the number of presents!! Aside from this, it was an event which lots of non-believers attended and to whom we wanted to relay that Christianity is not only linked to particular moments of the year when we go to church with our family and then go home to gorge ourselves on food.

Praise:

  • Over the following months we have arranged another two mission events (a film discussion forum about the film “The Invention of Lying” and an aperitopic). At the latter event specifically, we were honoured and delighted to collaborate with a group of young OM missionaries who shared their experience of faith on board their ship, Logos Hope which has reached over 150 countries in the whole world.
  • Another praise point is the conversion of an atheist young man who was reached by one of our female coordinators in the Faculty of Mathematics.

Prayer:

  • We have only just recently restarted the Bible studies in the various university locations and we still need God to push students to read the Word.
  • We will shortly start organising a mission week at the beginning of May. Pray that God will give us all the resources we need and prepare the hearts of the students.

We thank God for the start of this academic year and for being able to see His hand in all things.
We already have five study groups up and running (with the aim of evangelising) in four different centres of the universities in Naples.
Pray that lots of young people, Christian and non- would participate.

We are preparing a Mission Week from 7 to 11 November.
