At this time, our focus is on creating a welcoming community in GBU Pisa and exploring relevant topics for students. The main activity was the apologetics event, ‘Is believing in God for idiots?’ (6 November), at which we had the privilege of hosting Dr Samuel, a scientist from the University of Pisa. His teaching touched on high-impact topics such as cosmology, human rights, and ecology, enabling deep and honest discussion, as evidenced by the atmosphere that evening. Meanwhile, Bible studies on Ephesians strengthened the group’s identity. Finally, an informal pub evening was organised at Orzo Bruno on 10 November to help newcomers integrate. This follow-up activity aimed to foster relationships and encourage community life.

Praise
  • We praise God for His faithfulness, which transforms anxiety into tangible opportunities.
  • We are grateful for the Apologetics evening and the profound discussion on faith and science, as well as the wisdom the speaker was given.
  • We thank Him for the new students who experienced a familiar and welcoming atmosphere.
  • We thank God for speaking to us through the Bible studies on Ephesians. We praise God that we can live out our faith practically, not just through study, but by creating simple, genuine opportunities to come together, as we did at the meeting on 10 November.
Prayer
  • At GBU Pisa, we would like prayer that each one of us could comprehend and fully live out our identity in Christ. Pray that we can walk in the good works that God has prepared for us every day.
  • Pray that the new students will integrate and feel part of this family. We ask for perseverance and unity as a group.
  • Finally, please pray for all the students at the University of Pisa who do not yet know Christ. Pray that God will open our eyes to the good works He has prepared to reach them and open their eyes to the Gospel.

At GBU Siena this year, we weren’t sure what to do about the students, since some of those who were coming to the group had either graduated or started work. Also, as this was my final year at university, we weren’t sure how we would manage to continue. By God’s grace, four new people have joined us, one of whom is a believer and another is very interested in finding out who God is.

Praise
  • Thank the Lord for the new people and for sustaining us so far, enabling us to achieve what we planned for this semester.
Prayer
  • Please pray for the new people, that the Lord would open up their hearts and that they’d keep wanting to find out more of who He is and what He did for them.
  • Pray for us too (coordinator and staff), that the Lord would give us wisdom in running the group, especially as we’re approaching the end of the academic year.

We thank God at GBU Messina that new people have joined the group, since we’re continuing to hold regular weekly meetings and we’ve also decided to add in a new type of activity (meetings where we approach a specific topic to help us with our personal growth and as Christian students) and everyone has found them really engaging.

Please pray we’d gain the support of a local church. We’re also thinking of arranging an outreach activity at the University, so we’re asking for prayer for that, especially that everything goes according to God’s plan.

We started off the new academic year with a Welcome Day at GBU Piacenza, with our staff worker, at the polytechnic satellite.

It was a day when we were able to talk to lots of students, particularly international and GBU ones, and making the excuse of having a snack together, we left some tracts.
Sadly, the students we talked with weren’t then interested in the GBU, but they’re following us on Instagram, so maybe we’ll be able to invite them again in the future.

We’re continuing to pray to God that we’d make the most of the opportunities He gives us and that He’d make us get to know the ones who are seeking Him.

In the meantime, we’ve started studying the Gospel of Mark which has been a great encouragement for our little group!
Please pray for us, for the end of this first semester and for the students and friends we’ll be talking with!

Praise

We thank God that many people contacted us over the summer to say they were interested in GBU activities.

After a long period of not knowing how to proceed, we have even found a suitable solution for where to hold our meetings sheltered from the winter cold, and let’s hope this will help make everything more effective.

Prayer

Despite so many people having contacted us, there are sadly often very few of us at the events, and we’ve had to postpone meetings several times.

We’d like to get to know one another better to form a more united group in terms of friendships. Pray we will have opportunities to spend time together as friends.

There aren’t currently any non-believing students coming along to our meetings. We would really like to organise more outreach events to reach others.

GBU Bergamo has only been in existence for a month but there are already over 18 members, 15 -16 a meeting. In addition to being a huge responsibility and great honour, it’s also a huge commitment. We meet weekly on a Tuesday, and this week we held our fourth Bible study together.

Pray, because we’ve got a lot of international students, that the Lord would give us wisdom to know how to connect with them.

Pray we’d find a permanent venue in which to hold our meetings, it could be a lecture theatre or a bar.

Pray about the fact that we only have one group coordinator in GBU Bergamo, Samuele, who’s being helped by a coordinator from Milan, that the Lord would give us the necessary strength to continue.

We thank God that:

  • He’s allowed us to start up meetings regularly.
  • The group is growing.
  • A girl has come back to find us.

Since the coffee shop where we used to meet has closed, we used a University lecture theatre at Pescara last week. We’re praying God would allow us to keep visiting the satellite in order to form good relationships with students.

Praise
  • We are profoundly grateful to the Lord for the encouraging answers to prayer and the blessings He continues to pour out on us.
  • Thank God, our activities and programmes are going well without any particular difficulties.
  • We are grateful to the Lord for how relationships in the group are strengthening and deepening, giving us increasingly more opportunities to spend time together as friends.
  • We thank the Lord for answering our prayer about a new member of staff.
  • We praise God for the two non-believers who in particular have been participating in our meetings.
Prayer
  • Pray God would unite the group, making us grow, not just in number but especially in His Word. That He would bless the coming meetings, allowing opportunities to get to know one another better and strengthening our ties.
  • We’re asking God to increase our non-believing student contacts, through friendships and events taking place at the University.

We want to give thanks for how the Lord has led us as a group up until now.

Along this journey, we’ve been privileged to experience His power, grace and above all His faithfulness. Every step of the way accomplished has been a tangible sign of His presence among us, and we’re grateful for how he has sustained and encouraged us through challenges and opportunities.

We’re asking you to join us in prayer, so that the Lord would continue to work in our hearts, granting constancy, unity and discernment.

We’re praying it will be He who guides each of our ventures and every future outreach event, so that we can be tools in His hands, for His glory and the advancement of His Kingdom.

Praise
  • GBU Trieste has started meeting again on a weekly basis this year.
  • We’d like to thank God for allowing us to have a lecture theatre to meet in, keeping in the warm and sheltered from the Bora wind.
  • We’d also like to thank Him that the Welcome Day has been a vehicle for allowing us to talk to lots of university students and bringing some people to the Bible studies.
Prayer
  • We’d like to ask for prayer for two students we’ve been having very interesting dialogue with, who have been asking very deep, genuine questions about faith and Jesus. Pray that God would really touch their hearts and that they’d recognise the miracle  of what Christ did for us.
  • As the group coordinators have to leave us soon, we’re also asking that God will put the desire in the hearts of the believers in the group to carry on this work and give them wisdom, so that new students would be able to get to know Christ and the hope there is in Him.
  • Finally, we’d like to pray that God will use us to spread the Gospel, keeping us humble and creating opportunities for dialogue with the University students.
