We give thanks for the fantastic collaboration with GBU Castelfranco, which has also been a support to GBU Venice.

Venice does not currently have a coordinator, as the one in charge is working on her dissertation and has gone back to live in her home town, far away from Venice. The group (consisting of two other people) was already having trouble forming last year. The mix of study caught up with work meant it has not ever been possible to arrange a meeting. Let’s pray the Lord would bring believing people to Him who are able to take on the role of coordinators for next year, and that there would be a new start for Venice, with students open to hearing the Word of the Lord.

GBU Venice is in a phase of a new beginning, to the extent that those from previous years have graduated and no longer live in Venice. Our objective is to meet in person, but currently there are only two of us.

Praise
  • We thank the Lord for the collaboration with GBU Castelfranco who we meet up with in person once a month and with whom a wonderful atmosphere of brotherly/sisterly love has been established.
  • We thank the Lord for being able to run an event on 3 December with Chris and Lizzie Brown, where there will be a retreat in Mestre with all GBU groups from the three regions around Venice.
Prayer

Our prayer is that the Lord would open the hearts of the students in Venice, that the posters on the notice boards or on Instagram arouse interest in people, and that friends and acquaintances are interested in joining in. Overall, we’re asking for wisdom in discerning the way of the Lord, being attentive to his voice and not being demoralised by circumstances.

We thank the Lord for the new freshers who are coming along to the GBU and for the growth of the coordinators in facilitating the Bible studies and discussions, in English too!!

Pray for our new series of Bible studies on Unlearn Religion, Relearn Jesus (Luke’s Gospel), that it will be an opportunity to bring friends along and get to know Jesus Christ better.

Chris (English) and Elisabetta (Italian, from Trieste) have been serving GBU since December 2009. Between the both of them, they have attended universities in Cambridge, London, Goteborg (Sweden) and Belfast and are now very happy to be here in Italy in the same context, doing the most important thing one could ever do in a university: share the gospel of Jesus. They got married in 2002 and have two lovely children: Shona (2008) and Pietro (2010).
