We thank God that we’ve started up weekly GBU meetings again this year.

We managed to split into two groups, one in Italian and the other in English. I’d like prayer for the Lord to add more and more people each day, who’d be interested in His Word and in being saved.

We’re organising an international food and drink party on 29 November, where everyone will bring a dish from their national cuisine, since we have so many international students. We’re asking the Lord to bring lots of new lives to our group, that it would be an outreach event to encourage non-Christians to take part in our future meetings, and that the Lord would give us the strength to serve Him and serve one another, doing His will.

This last month and a half we’ve been offering out various activities to reach and involve new believing and unbelieving students, and we’ve seen good involvement and a desire to return.

For example, an Iranian young man who we met in September during the welcoming week, has not only started coming to GBU meetings but is also joining some Church services, and we’re really grateful for this.

Prayer

We’re now about to start up some Bible discussions and we’d like prayer for this, that God would give us wisdom and the right words to enable us to speak to students about Jesus and what He did for them too.

We’re also aiming to meet up for breakfast in the faculty more often to pray together. Our prayer request might therefore be for this small project we’re trying to run to continue at least once a month.

To be recognised again by the Turin Polytechnic as a Student Association, we need to follow a set procedure and submit various documents which we pray will be accepted without there being any problems.

We give thanks for having managed to find a time that suits many of the students better and we’re therefore doing two small groups every week. Furthermore, we as group coordinators, for the moment there’s just us, are starting to visit the faculties on a weekly basis, in an attempt to fully live out the experience of sharing Jesus among the students!

Prayer

We’re therefore asking for prayer for this reason too, that those students who are now coming along regularly would also join these weekly outings and would bring more students to Christ and to the GBU. We’re also asking for prayer for all the students in the group, that they’d also feel able to share their burdens and prayer requests.

In recent months we’ve seen the group grow in incredible ways and we’re immensely grateful to God for this. Especially now, quite a few students who are still searching for the Lord have been taking part in our meetings, and what is even more encouraging has been seeing their hearts rejoicing at what they’ve been learning from His Word.
We’ve managed to have dinner together on many occasions before doing the study, and this has created a wonderful atmosphere of friendship amongst us. Often everyone feels able to share prayer requests and we’re able to take time to pray
together.
In January we also went into the Faculty to talk to the students we met and the Lord
enabled us to share the Gospel in our conversations.
We also needed to find a new coordinator for the new academic year, but even in this instance the Lord knew how to exceed every expectation and we are grateful for how He has provided for this too.
We are therefore immensely grateful to God, as His leading was very evident. We started out with nothing at the start of October, and what we’re now seeing is without a doubt the fruit of His grace which has made everything happen.

Prayer

Our prayers are certainly for these young students who are still getting to know the Lord, that Christ’s message that they’re hearing in the Bible studies would really produce fruit in their hearts, in the ways He desires.
We are currently facing a few logistical challenges, especially in terms of choosing which day to meet and being able to meet in person, so we’re praying for wisdom to make choices that would glorify God more, even if these put us out of our comfort zone.
We feel the need to be increasingly guided in our Bible study to prevent us falling into purely intellectual discussions about what we’re reading. We want primarily to be talking about faith lived out.

We want to thank God that this year we’ve had more contact with students and and a number of new people have joined in the Bible studies.
We held a film night in March, and we were able to talk about Jesus with friends and housemates.

Prayer

We’d like prayer for our future meetings. We’d like to organise a couple of events in May. Moreover, from April onwards, we’re going back to doing outreach in the University and we’re also asking for prayer with this, that the students would be keen to know about the message of salvation.

  • We thank God for guiding and leading us through all the activities we’ve had over the last four months.
The Winter camp, organized in conjunction with GBU Urbino, was a beautiful time of refreshing, even as we looked at the Gospel as the power of God for salvation, for transformation, and for unification to those that believe.
  • We thank God for the unity and camaraderie we’ve seen in the group, having all hands on deck in every event we had. Our second iteration of the art event was also quite a success.
  • For the non-believers who have maintained a line of curiosity and consistency to learn more about who Jesus is. We are grateful for the friendships within the group, and the openness to accommodate new people.
Prayer
  • That we, individually, may continue to grow in the knowledge and love of God, being rooted and grounded in Him.
  • We pray for the 3 days of events we’ll be having in mid-April. We pray for boldness as we reach out to more students.

GBU Pisa is up and running again! Following some years after Covid, we’re happy and grateful to God for being able to share with you the joy of seeing the local group start meeting up again.

Almost all the students are in their first year and some of them had been to Revive, thanks to which they’d got in touch with local staff in Pisa. A young, enthusiastic group, keen to be together, it has already organised some Bible studies a a café in town and it looks like they’re wanting to to carry on doing so regularly.

Let’s pray that some of them would want to become group coordinators. Perhaps the
Festa GBU itself might be an opportunity for great encouragement and growth! Let’s hope someone from Pisa takes part!

In Modena, the GBU tried to start meeting up again despite the months of not doing so, but after a meeting in February, we had to suspend this temporarily due to our various commitments as coordinators. We then started up GBU meetings again at the end of March.

We’re continuing to use a themed approach, in fact, we’ve thought we’d start with the topic “Jesus’ miracles”, to highlight more clearly what He did and why, but above all who He is.

We therefore want to thank God for being able to start up activities in person again, after pausing for a while, and for the good atmosphere seen in the group.
We’re praying we’re able to keep up meeting regularly at this time, and we’re praying that after us, other coordinators would be raised up wanting to lead GBU Modena. We’re also praying about organising a flyer distribution / outreach event which we’re planning to do in the coming months.

  • At GBU Naples, we’d like to thank and praise the Lord for how He sustained us and supplied every need in the event week we held recently.
We were very enthusiastic about this, and the entire group wanted to be involved, unified in purpose and hospitable towards the young adults who had arrived from America. We’d like to give thanks both for them being there, and for their involvement with the surveys.
  • We also thank God for the students we interacted with who then took part in the events. Even though there were few of them, we thank God for reaching them.
Prayer
  • for the American students we collaborated with
  • for the students who showed an interest
  • for this semester’s Bible studies
  • that the group would grow
