Praise the Lord that the local group’s activities got up and running about a month ago and are taking place regularly. Moreover, there are new girls who have been enthusiastically attending.

We ask you to pray that all of us as members would have a clear vision of the GBU, serving the Lord together, and for what going into the faculties will look like, which we want to start doing.

Praise

We thank the Lord that after being on hold for a year, the group has started up again! To date we’ve managed to meet up regularly once a week, albeit online.

Prayer

Please pray the students would be more and more impassioned by the GBU vision, that they’d give it the right priority and that we’d be more encouraged to speak about Jesus with our colleagues.
We’re also asking for prayer that we’d manage to meet up in person, which is currently proving difficult, given everyone’s different availability.

At GBU Foggia we were even more raring to go this year than last! God has blessed us so much, giving us just the right amount of energy to start up again.

We’re more or less up to our fourth meeting now, but we’ve already had good results. Two unbeliever female friends came along to one of the meetings. We had been urging them to come for quite some time, but they were finally persuaded, and they also joined in the Bible study.

In addition, new young adult believers have joined who are studying here at Foggia. Our work is proceeding, and God is showing us how to move forward, one step at a time. In the meantime, we’re starting to plan some special events for December!

Finally, we have an important prayer point to do with where we hold our meetings. Up until now we have been allowed to meet in a cafe, where we were given a calm area, but sadly the cafe is closing on 31 December. Therefore, we’re asking God to help us find a new venue, cafe or teaching room where we can meet. We’re sure He’ll find a solution to the problem!

The GBU year has started off amazingly, beyond all expectations, with of course highs and lows depending on the more or less demanding times at the University.

On 23 March we were able to run some Spring Training together with GBU Chieti and GBU Bari. It was a really special day of sharing, learning and reflecting, and useful too for taking stock of where our group is in the middle of this academic year.
It was especially encouraging to consider how, despite being set up recently, the Foggia group has already reached six friends who would like to attend our meetings.
For us, that is a lot of people! We are still praying and trying to keep up the contact with them. This is definitely a prayer point.

In addition, a survey we are doing with some questions regarding Jesus and the Bible is underway and should finish soon.
We hope this will be a way to reach other students. Finally, we are still looking for a lecture hall in the university for our meetings. So far, we have not managed to get one and we are meeting in a bar, but it would be good to be able to use a lecture theatre.

We are nonetheless very thankful to God for how He has greatly blessed us so far. The GBU has also been a way of meeting believers from various backgrounds, forming new friendships and sharing Jesus together!

Praise
  • Despite the fact that the Foggia group started very recently, there are a lot of us! Already ten or so people come to our meetings.
  • We’re really grateful to God because we’ve really seen how He is in control of everything, this year 2 girl believers moved here from other towns to study in Foggia, and the GBU provided them with a great way of integrating and getting to know believers they didn’t know.
  • Thank God for making a cafe available to us with a room where we can hold our meetings in peace!
Prayer
  • We’re looking for a university that can give us an available teaching room, so that it will be easier for our non-believer friends to come to the studies.
  • We’re planning an event for around Christmas time (1st event for GBU Foggia) which we can also invite our friends to.
  • We have a few contacts who are interested in getting to know God but are blocked by shyness or shame… Let’s ask God to convince them to come to our meetings.
